I Have Concerns

I know
that I know
how to want,
how to need
a woman.
Yet I don't
seem to do so
good when it comes
to connecting emotionally.
To be there for her
no matter the
manner of situation.
Perhaps I focus too
much on the physical,
yes I'm sure I do,
and in the process
lose all hope
for an emotional
connection.

I love this. You can feel the emotions and the chain of thoughts going through your mind.

Dear James, I read an article just yesterday about exactly this issue. When it comes to physical "closeness" let's say, a man looses the possibility to focus on "other things" tout court. What is extraordinary about your "concerns" is that you show great sensitivity in being actually concerned, does this make sense? And being aware of the "problem" you will be able to find the way and the right time to better connect "on all levels", which will no doubt bring more happiness into your relationship.

Significant write, dear James.

Love,
Margherita

well I'm on the other side here James...I've given up on men I think. That or I'm just too old and tired for physical relationships anymore when that's all a man seems to want.

Yes, their initial needs are very different, although sometimes they become in sync.  I believe the emotional needs are stronger in most women, but I may be wrong.  After those are honestly met, they may be more receptive to other needs.  I admire your desire for understanding that is evident in you fine poem.

I liked the honesty of this. Having Concerns...spoke of a great heart. Keep concentrating on your concerns and always treat the special one as you would like to be treated. I'm sure things will all work out in love. Never give up on love.

Whatever you do start paying a 'Shrink'

He or she will convince it was your 'Mother' - Freud.

Another will convince you, you were an animal, "dog collar", and you are not even allowed on the couch, in the shrink's office.

Change your phone number if, it doesn't require the Island changing it's code and give the record shops a chance to restock.

"Some things work, some don't and some only work for a short time, and others you will never understand, and I certainly dont, go on forever, no matter what"

Keep writing

Men, for hundreds of years have been raised
with the focus on winning...no matter what
the prize...he is supposed to win.  And..
he has been taught over those hundreds of
years how not to communicate..Why?  Because
men are supposed to be strong silent individuals...  Does that lend toward being
sensitive to a woman's needs?  No, emphatically NO...Is it right...without
reservation....NO again.  So,  before
an emotional bond can be achieved...one
must learn two things....how to listen and
how to listen some more....That attribute
will earn you major points...and believe it
or not,  the rewards will be great if one
can be a listener....Walk softly, slowly
and don't carry a club!!

"and by making that selection,
I lose all hope for an
emotional connection"...
sounds better to me...James
