light shadows falling
caressing my face.
falling with burden
burning with grace.
blue skys are gone now
replaced with dark grays.
my eyes see in darkness
through the haze.
as that last ray
shines on your wings
i look on the luster
the radient beings.
will this dark cluster fully ensnare?
or will the beams
shine outward there.
now i see,
as light shadows turn to must,
light always prevails
dark covered in dust.

I enjoyed the play of light against dark, that you see light as prevailing. Though not being religious, I embrace a hopefulness that humankind will someday be kind, that the lights will go on in the heads of those who are stuck in dark recesses.
