Island in the Sun...

0 posted 2006-05-16 08:14 PM

On a sultry summer's night
When peaceful sleep eluded me
Bathed in silver moonlight
I gazed at the shimmering sea

The gentle hands of a zephyr
Lightly caressed my face and hair
Carrying promises of ecstatic release
For my heart laden with despair

Lured like a moth to flame
I stepped onto the grainy sand
And ran, swift and untamed
The moon as my guiding hand

Then i was at the water's edge
The waves lapping at my toes
I raised my arms in silent pledge
And my spirits swiftly rose

Like a butterfly emerging
From the cocoon of its timeless rest
Eyes blessed with renewed sight
Nature's bounty, I doth attest

The heavens are of deepest velvet
With stars as twinkling fireflies
The sea shimmers in silver light
And the moon, luminous against the skies

The magical beauty of the night
Rendered my mind into a trance
Voices of sylphs whispered to me
Spurring me into an ancient dance

In lithe, sinuous movements
My body began to undulate
Free of all life's inhibitions
I soared like the wind incarnate

With the melodious chirping of crickets
And the ocean's soothing croon
As the only music of my dance
I paid homage to the goddess of the moon

Indeed, there are few places where crickets, and sea sounds merge, but you did it well, and welcome are you, to Passions.  Please, check your email for a very Special Welcome!

Oh, I am so delighted you've joined Pips. This is an absolutely gorgeous write! I am wanting to run into the surf right now, dance in the sand 'neath the moon's loving gaze.
WELCOME!!!!

Wow, Pauline, this was exquisite. Am keeping this for sure! Lucky goddess to receive such a beautiful homage.

"With stars of twinkling fireflies"
this line makes me remember an abstract ethereal beauty that is very pleasing to me.
