Only if you like solving riddle, of this read for this is not based on aesthetics.

Riding A Riddle

I've been around since of old and by me
You plan though I spring back and forth and go
Around all the earth.Einstein spaced me though
And saw dimensions, one beyond the three.
Some claim I trick with ticks from lea to sea
Mid my flow. I claim no staid status quo
Since by me, you see tree rings like an O
And try to beat my beat's ordained decree.

Some try to save me, spend me. There's no doubt
About my clout in life. Your're in my "hands"
And when you stop I don't for I'm "devout!"

I'm in the square dance, "fiddling" in all bands,
A "rocker" to-and-fro. Earth's stout armed clout
Dare stop me?I rule in all Terra's lands!

What am I?

Dear Bodger,

Thou art a person of insight.  Thou art not far from the "kingdom!"

You must know something about quantum science. Great! To use the term, "no-thing" in the quantum world is very informative to me.

Then I will give you another clue or two.  Think of distance and its implications in science.  But forget it when you move to quantum science's non-local for you will not find me there. Remember in this regards, the research of Albert Michelson and Edward Morley was a "bomb-shell" in science and even today its implications are far reaching.

Dear Seymour,

I do not know about the formula but I do know your answer is very timely.  Great thinking!  Bodger needed to carry his thought one more step and I think his answer would have been timely, too. Remember, Einstein showed that space and time were two sides of one "coin." And since "everything created is spaced out," time is, too.  But, too, he showed us that time is relative. So time rules in this sense.  As you know, the scientists  even measure "the dance" of energy particles. This is amazing.  I guess THE GREAT RULER is gravity, scientically speaking. Now the scientists are talking about vibrating strings everywhere.  But then, where did the strings come from?
