Taste of Evergreen

Butternut air, heavy with morning
Vapor sits softly the hollow spaces of widespread arms
Holding chick, shelter of hawk, smiling wider full frame
Catching rain drops, released as snack to thirsty scrub
Keeping cool the floor, shedding bedding and mat
Sunlight filters through the thistle down of new growth
Diffused along the thorn of pretense, wistful and rich
Russet cone, sweeter in the fire, supple in the wind
Stand tall, over-looker of vastness, aged wise and still
Created to be prophet and sage, given bough and girth
Deep root, to hold the earth from fear…mourning and glee
To be welcome here, among such charming host
A friend, and patron spread among the canopy so proud
Green in every season, time aloud
Green, surrounds the bounty, set a table on the floor
Hungry for the peace to taste of Evergreen once more

K, this is such a gorgeous write. I felt refreshed reading this, captured by the imagery and the scent, the new feathered downy life force you've shared.
Am keeping this with many other treasured writes.

Our master mistress of poetic endeavors has
given us once again a mere morsel of her
