This poem is based on a dream.Every detail was not in the dream.I use poetic means in places to convey my thought.I have some knowledge of Freud's and Jung's thoughts on dreams. So if you are one who is fixated on Freud, you will have chimes and rhymes on this one.I think Jung was and still is closer to the truth about dreams than Freud. There are others who have different views on dreams and I listen to them.

When I awoke after this dream(when I have this type of dream, I wake up then and there) I knew the meaning at once. (Many I have to deal with in layers) But on this one I did not, though symbols are multi-meaning.You may see other meanings and I invite you to share them with me, except Freudian ones. I already know what Freud would say.

As to the poem, itself, it is under construction
like all mine are. I consider all my poems unfinished! I invite your comments.

Being Myself

I ventured to dream on a certain night
And found myself amidst a church's scene
Where rote rites ruled.Proceeded the routine
As I sat stiff and straight and wound up tight!
A robed one skillfully played with all might
A violin to classics in his preen
Styled fashion. One played an ole tambourine
As people's feet beat time in sheer delight!

I brought my violin to play, but he
Outclassed me with his fast newfangled pace
And quickly I hid my "pride" close to me!

Awakening, I knew it's no disgrace
In life's fast pace of one and two and three
For others to earn the front and first place!
