.

He sits, reflecting,
while summer's first tender blush
stirs winter weary souls...
time for yesteryear's worn dreams
be released unto the sea

OhNance~
There a feeling of total release in this penning~
Both melancholy ... and hopeful~
I can envision a 'message in a bottle' bobbing on the waves ... carrying those 'worn dreams' away~

A beautifully, well-worked Tanka, sweet poetess~

Well said, Nancy, and sometimes we wait too long to release those dreams and yet the sea waits.  There must be something good in that.

What a beautiful poem. Thankfully, when we release yesteryear's dreams, we are given new, better ones for this year.

Something of promise endures in the timelessness of the sea, and swallows the rusty hinges of the past, especially in the songs of its warm summer breezes.

"I want to go down to the sea again ..."

Dear Enchantress,

This is very enchanting.  The sea maybe a symbol of eternity and maybe there all good dreams come true.  I have read some works of science in which they claim water may hold memories.  How enlightening. Look on the internet for "water and memory" for the pros and cons.

For this piece, and of the peace, I find myself in reflection. One of seasonal changes. Not of any set place, but the world over.

This change of seasons from one to the next, how as I go into winter, those I have befriended in the USA and Canada are heading toward Summer.

A moment where my coldness is another warmth, and how I lived through a Canadian winter of snow on the ground. Of a day, a friend in USA sent me a message to say she was having to go out and brave a snow storm in order to do her shopping, and then sent me another message to say she was home safe again.

Oceans apart, a saying I behold between my self and a spiritual connection with a woman in Ontario, Canada.

Somewhere we are all joined, at one time we were together in a past existence. A place where Martie and Sunshine (Karilea) were our friends. Again we found one another.

Each season is our heart, now of this comes my own selfish reflection of reading your words. An enchantment of memories, gathered from a few.

Maybe it is not the poem, but how we ourself feel or what we get from knowing of the poem, that is the true creditability such words do give back to one another.

This reality of being alive, to live and know our own probation in this life has not been wasted

As if my thoughts here are longer than the poem above, yet are a living truth all the same.

And who among us has not sat in such a mood and pondered life?  Well said.  Hugs, Ken

Yours are enough for me

I can look at somewhere

Remember the picture

And wipe my knees

Afterwards

Your

Was that a noise by the door

Silly man

Milk always around the front

Still

New guy

I'll churn him

Round

Yes, Nancy
That's where they go..
The sea is the only vessel large enough to hold all of the worlds yesterdays dreams.

enjoyed the poem and picture...
