What burden, the stones piled upon the earth’s edge,
where shards sting the weary hands that grasp the
precipice, as toes seek the crevice that will keep
alive the heart that falters.

What trial that brings to bear the soul’s lament
of that which hides beyond the dark of night,
awaiting the rise of slumbering limbs...wishing
to tear asunder the spirit that weakens, the flame
that grows dim, more dim by each hour.

What sound, that comes from the darkened
corner of a closet that only one shares with
no other.   Whispering softly in the still of
a room where floors creak and windows
show the age of hours of despair and
depression that rides a dark horse.

What? What comes and releases the latch
upon the gate.  Walking stealthily onto
a porch of history, where times were once
silken and the faded smile again filled the
eyes that now cry for relief and a time when
all fades...turns and walks away...

Good grief!  Have you no shame!  The imagery...

will haunt me for many tomorrows...

write that novel, will you?

Please?

"depression that rides a dark horse"

What a terrific line... in fact, it's a terrific poem.

Excellent!  I could feel the heaviness of the burden right the way through the poem.  Hope that your burden lightens in time.

I had to blink back tears reading this--deeply touching. You are an amazing poet, Magnus. May the old hurts fade, always, leaving eyes that smile.
