To Be On The Way

Sometimes it's the way the light hits
that makes life seem good or bad,
how the windows pull me to drift
into memories that make me sad

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

and sometimes I hear your voice
in the falling of the leaves,
I understand about rickety knees...
how minutes run away like thieves

and sometimes I don't pay attention
or let the sun catch me off-guard,
I stay focused on some tomorrow
though seeing that road is hard.

I guess it's good enough
just to be on the way,
even if, sometimes,
I visit yesterday.

~

Keep focused on the road ahead..that is the only way to the future...and sometimes look to the side and the fields and nature...the birds and flowers...that give colour to our life..a fine write here Dixie..thank you..

A moving poem. I love this last verse. Yes, it's enough just to be on the way.

Yes...it's good Dixie gal.
And quite alright to visit yesterday.

Hi, Dixie! I'd say that you are well on your way!

"I guess it's good enough
just to be on the way,
even if, sometimes,
I visit yesterday."

~ and there is nothing wrong with visiting yesterday! ~ as long as it doesn't impinge on our today and our tomorrows!

I enjoyed the "light" touch to your writing!

Yes, Dixie, it most certainly is as long as one can remember that one is actually on the way with only time for a quick pit stop.  Hi and 'Bye is good for yesterday but that's another one of those things that's easy to say.  Very nice write!

This is either my favourite poem of yours, or one of my most favourite (just difficult to remember all of your poems at once).  You are very wise, passing shadows, for one so young.  And wisdom and such a beautiful sensitivity make for a wonderful combination - not an easy one to live, I would imagine, but at the same time, I guess, that, like me, you live every second of your life to the full - in my opinion, that is the best way to live.  I wish you strength and loads of happiness.

Oh, and I forgot to say how exquisite the poem is - and the picture.

Dear Passing Shadows,

Thank you for your lovely thoughts.  I, too, see that we are all on the way.  Our essence is becoming and it does not appear what we shall be like, except to be better than we are.  At least, this is the Great Hope!

Hi Dixie
What a way to say it :-)
There's nothing wrong with memories of yesterday as long as you don't ignore tomorrow...
