When I was young...
I thought the whole damned world was crazy.
Counselors tried to get me to conform.
"He's just another social misfit...stoned and lazy."
But my black cloud offered shelter from the storm.

I never gave excuses for my absense...
When everyday, they tried to teach me I was wrong.
Now years have past...
And looking in the past tense...
I never cracked
and it's a well known fact...
That they were crazy all along.

I never asked permission for my bowel contractions.
Or sought pardon for anything not in my control.
I'm not responsible for any of Eden's infractions.
Tell Pharoah...It's time to let the people go?

Oh, you can keep the pace...
and run the race...
The way that you were shown...
But don't pretend the truth was never known.

The grown up world seemed dark and sad and feeble.
They said, "This is just the way it's supposed to be."
With hate and wars and scores of hungry people?
All because of...Some fruit on some tree?

I never understood the guilt they carry.
It made no sense...so they sent me to Sunday School.
Where God forgives and condemns...
Comes soon...and tarries....
I guess...depending on how we interpret the Golden Rule.

I was told that Jesus tore the gates of Hell down.
They tried to scare me into believing they were put back up again.
People walk the earth as though their spell bound....
And have no control over the shape their in.

They say that we're coming to the end of the line.
But nobody wants to go around.
Everybodys worried about the end of time...
But nobody wants to slow down.

It's all closing in...But they won't give an inch.
I guess we're going to see how they do in a pinch.

Everybody wants everyone to play fair ball...
But nobody wants to join the team.
Everybodys worried about the writing on the wall...
But no one wants to wipe the slate clean.

You want to be free...But you're too scared to try it.
You shake your fist at me...Because I didn't buy it.

Oh, you can keep the pace...
and run the race...
The way that you were shown...
But don't pretend the truth was never known.

Heaven and earth can come together
If you lay down the burden that you tote.
The joining only waits on you and whether
You're still in need of a scapegoat.

From the mouth of God...
Jesus told the Devil...
From the mouth of God....
Moses told Pharoah...
Now...From the mouth of God...
just go and tell the preacher...
I AM THAT I AM says to let the people go.

Oh, you can keep the pace...
and run the race...
The way that you were shown...
But don't pretend the truth was never known.

Rainclouds lie in your tears, sunshine in your heart. When you cry from happiness, you glow as a rainbow. - Marie-Ève C.
