legs of sundown
leaning over her boredom
succedaneum satisfaction
of ocean eye appraisal

she wears the sand in her shoes
just for the sensations
of walking where others
have walked but didn't stay

because they were not tall enough
for the tides when they mated
distance beyond horizons
and found holes in the night

for their hands to hold
like the roots of trees
hewn from the wax of paper
and the sometimes voices

of a lyceum pretending to be wind

it all comes and goes
but the coming takes all
when it rains

Sometimes the wind on the ocean is pure loneliness.  I love the word paint in this, and the images of

"hands to hold
like the roots of trees
hewn from the wax of paper"

feels like the bond of ages, somehow fragile, the things we come to fear off in the distance beyond current consciousness.

It's been a while since I've been to the ocean.  Soon....

And I love...

"she wears the sand in her shoes
just for the sensations
of walking where others
have walked but didn't stay"

Another good one Stranger.

I loved this ... legs of sundown
leaning over her boredom
succedaneum satisfaction
of ocean eye appraisal

Actually I could have posted the entire piece, it was one of your best.

My favorite line was
"she wears the sand in her shoes"
