Song of Erin
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

As gentle rains mist emerald grass,
on the hills of the bonnie Isle,
The blood be stirred in both lad and lass,
in the gloamin’ of spring’s beguile.

As sun does set o’er the rolling hills,
lovers cling in warm embrace.
With the Song of Erin in their hearts,
joyful spirits interlace.

Love is the unifying force
which integrates one’s soul with another.

Hi Linda,

A very beautiful poem with nice rhythm and gracious spirit. I especially liked the last line:

"joyful spirits interlace"

it reminds me of two tree-trunks wrapped around each other that engendered an ancient myth of two lovers being pursued by an angry Zeus and protected for eternity by Hera.

You are a very prolific poet.

Beautiful and fantastic

Only it leaves me wanting
as if your poem is only half there

then the effect is still as heartwarming as any poem could be

a poet who cares

Les ~

I appreciate your thought-full reply!

Last year I wrote a love poem about two cedars that were entwined. It was as though the larger tree was the male and he was leaning forward over the river protectively holding the smaller female. There were roots at the bases of them that resembled hands being held. I had a picnic beneath these glorious trees and was moved to write that poem.

Blowing Irish blessings your way,

(smiles) Yay! Oh Linda, this is soooooooo gorgeously harmonious, sweet friend, often everyone here loves to comapre the Oregon landscape and atmosphere to that of Ireland's, especially among the beaches, and so if you ever travel here, you'll notice a lot of lodges titled "Dublin Inn" and "Emerald Cove" and such! (giggles) The summers here are much hotter than they ever are in Dublin, but otherwise, bonnie braes blossom everywhere here, yay, I love this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Wow, Earth Angel!  I'm sure you are right and that we are bird and angel of a feather!  I didn't have a sister (or brother) until tonight!  I'd love one and for it to be you of all people!  I am very honoured to be your sister!  Wow again!  Thanks, sister!

And as I rise each morn, I will think of what you said and I WILL be blessed with the song of the Emerald Isle!  Gee!  I can't wait to wake up tomorrow morning, to hear that sweet song as I look out on my beloved forest!
