I Know What Boaz Knew

You comfort me with apples
that you glean along the way;
carry my heart as if it were
precious as rubies, precious as you.

You lift me stronger than seven sons,
and follow me among the stones of life
poised to share your last mite
when my towers fall.

Closer than any hand,
closer than my own hand you wait,
your smile valiant, believing, while you
carve me from raw granite, a man.

I dare not ask why you lay your treasure
at my feet, yourself, at my feet;
nor how you've turned my stolid sheaves,
long cut and bound, into a garden.

And this, your greatest kindness,
that you give for love, holds forever;
though we had been childless,
my line begins with you.

I tried to copy my favorite lines... but each and every one is sheer perfection. *S*

It is easy to read this and see a fortunate man... but how very, very lucky is the woman who's so deeply appreciated. This is love... and it's written beautifully!!!

"my line begins with you"

It's the ending that makes it all so beautiful. Such a powerful love.
