A trip
taken every year
four women
aged
ashen hair
youthful eyes
wisdom etched into the corners of their mouths
conjured together around
the quilting table
patches of stories
boasting of Easter colors
placed neatly stitched
laughter filling each seem
tears tying off knots
Mae lifts her hand in silence
dedicates her memories
to lost loves
Gladys hold her heart in remembrance
while Janet and Eloise
dance in circles
next year
a new patch will be added
and three women will take
a trip
aged

My grandmother was in a quilting B.  Her hands were so old, yet she could make them complete such intricate stitches.  Thank you for reminding me.

Great read. I love to read about women and the many ways they keep their sanity and gain wisdom from each other. martyjo
