In an upside-down garden

She is staring at the ceiling in the darkness
and writing all the words you'll never hear
on the walls of the living room, beneath some
mud she didn't ever know was there and she is
taking deep breaths, over and over again, and

There is something in the air, she can feel it
flowing into her lungs like a swamp, and the
way her skin feels is unfamiliar, textured and
uncertain, like bare feet stumbling along the cool
stones of the roads, overcome with the idea that

People are watching her, and some know what she
is thinking, chest rising and falling, repetitious,
going through the movements seems to be more
exhausting than she remembers, of course, she feels
like she can't recall too much anymore, but

She is writing words for all who find them, and
she'll be speaking everything you want to know
feet scraping on the narrow streets she lives for
inhaling inbetween evey word, reminding herself
that she is the memory that breathes.

For Serenity.

*tears*

I read this so slowly and I was like, "it's like she can see ME" (can you see me?) because this is exactly how my life has been...

how do you know me? *shaking my head*

and oh. smile.

This is gonna sound weird, but above my bed, next to the Katrina crack that is still there, is the oddest image from where I tried to clean up. It's like a line drawing of myself--sleeping peacefully. (I'll try to take a pic and see if it comes out.)

Thank you so much for this my friend.

I feel...understood.

Alyssa, you live and breathe words ~ and when you exhale them onto a wall, the floor, or a page ~ there is sheer magic.

Healing hugs of love,
