Our Toerag, never one to be considered much a winner
Decided on Easter he would have a rabbit there for dinner
So he went to the pet store, found a fluffy little hare
Then took it home and placed the tiny creature in a chair.

"My momma always told me that it was the proper way
To have the best time anyone could have on Easter Day
By having a rabbit for dinner- she said that way was the best
And, though I've never done it,time to put it to the test.

So he fed the rabbit collard greens and turnip greens and beets,
Some lettuce and some cabbage and some sliced-up luncheon meats,
Hard-boiled eggs with hollandaise,some chicken batter-fried,
Some swedish meatballs special made with almonds cooked inside.

He gave the creature oysters Rockefeller and some clams,
Large bowls of mashed potatoes and a plate of candied yams
And, while the rabbit stuffed himself, Toe brought out more delights
And smiled with glee as bunny gulped all down in little bites.

Then came dessert - a pumpkin pie with whipped cream piled up high,
French pastries that were so delicious they could make one cry,
Large bowls of ice cream, sprinkles and some cherries piled on top,
A plate of custard...culinary ecstacy non-stop!

For three full hours he fed the creature everything in sight
And said,"I feel great! It seems that momma had been right!"
He then picked up his new-found friend and carried him away.
How wonderful that Toerag had a special Easter Day!

I can understand your hubby's disbelief, Deb, but it's a fact.

A man stunned onlookers at a agriculture fair in Berlinwhen he brought his 22lb rabbit along.

Passers-by thought Hans Wagner had a large cuddly toy with him and were shocked when they discovered the 3ft 1in (his ears measure nearly 12 ins) rabbit was real.

Herman is one of a breed called the German Giant reports the Daily Mail. A spokesman from the German Rabbit Breeders' Association said: "They are good-natured, reliable and calm. They are, however, because of their size, not very suitable for children."

Most German Giants reach between 16lb and 18lb. But Herman - who eats more than 1lb of food a day - has just kept growing. He lives in a specially-constructed hutch made of solid oak. "He makes a sound like thunder when he thumps along but mostly just wants to sleep.

He's as big as a five-year-old child and unlike many rabbits is really friendly. His favourite food is lettuce."

Lady...thanks for enjoying and for reminding me of a phrase I have heard in many moons - Holy Sox!!!

Earth Angel..yes, he is and yes, he is. You don't need to be a bunny. My Spam is YOUR Spam any day!

Ceinwyn....makes you hungry??? A little Hausenpheffer, perhaps?

Absolutely adored the poem (nearly didn't read past the 2nd line for fear of what you meant, but was delighted I did) and adddddddddddored the darling bunny.  Is that really Toerag?  (Lucky Toerag!) And do you have access to the bunny?  If you do, please give him (the bunny) dozens of hugs and kisses from Owl.  WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWish I could meet him (the bunny).

Good Grief!  Look at the size of that rabbit!  Your story telling makes me want to beg for more, just like kid!  Toerag and I must be the same when it comes to having rabbit for dinner.  However, bunnies might be a different thing altogether!  LOL

Love you to, Mike! This is a very special easter tale, and I can only hope that rabbit keeps his big feet for a very long time!  He's wonderful.
