ETERNAL SPACE
10 April 2001

today was the withdrawal from the world
the sealing of lips in a frozen silence
the bolting of eyes against the blinding light
the locking of hands in a stone-cold pose
the logging off of the heart on the snow-laden doorstep
the shrink-wrapping of the soul in the bottom of the box
the deleting of thought to a stark, blank page
none will know the long history and none will wonder why
for there will be the mouthing of plastic clatter
through a mask of cheap make-up
today was the day of reckoning
the acceptance of non-existence
the climbing into the coffin
the pulling down of the lid
not wondering what life was for
