.

I lie here in our bed
mesmerised by the rhythmic rain
on a roof resigned to it's fate.
And my mind meanders back to a time-
when the rain was soft and gently cold.
With trees bowed, basking in reflected sunlight,
towards the surface of an ocean   deep and white.

The sight and sound of the overhead storm
quickens the rhythm of the rain   and heart.
And I count the seconds    while arising..
softly    so as not to awaken you -
For its from the window's alcove that I watch
as the storm's flashes fade.
With your arms around my waist, I've failed.
But remorse is only for the passing storm...
best enjoyed  inside  looking out.

Beautiful picture, Nancy, and this:

"But remorse is only for the passing storm...
best enjoyed  inside  looking out."

So very true.  Enjoyed the read!

Wistful...far off thoughts mingling with the storm raging outside.. but serenity is within your words ..and heart..thank you Nancy for the descriptive words falling in the rain..

Enchantress~
*sigh* ... you're beautiful ...
and this is a reflection in a mirror-of-time
that takes me back to .... yes, back to that dreamy time of remember~

I adore it ...~
And you~

Incredible picture!  You place such vivid imagery in so few words.  You are always a pleasure to read.  Hugs, KJ

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Enchantress,
My favorite poems are the ones you paint of nature so vividly.  Remarkable penning!
