A bit of an ode to rhyming verses

would Shakespeare have loved free verse, when living now and not before
would Hamlet sound the same in free, in stead of rhyme, which we adore
could Poe have written the Raven in the same fantastic, peculiar flow
if words had not been rhyming well, in verses written so long ago
creative poets showed their skill, in a perfect rhyming scheme
describing feelings, like Escher did, in his famous 'Scream'
and wasn't all the philosophy, written by René Descarte
about mind-body dualism, thought up very smart
when you are laying down in meadows green
focusing eyes at nature's colourful scene
white clouds drifting along the sky
wondering, why birds can fly

you know that you really can not deny
but if you did, it would be (I think) the greatest lie
that Shakespeare's rhymes and Poe's as well, right from the start
are hitting - inspirational diamants as they are - almost everybody's heart

Written for a contest in another poetry site.
We were given a lot of rhyming words which we should use as end rhymes.
We were not allowed to use more than 16.

And I don't even like tea...

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow
