“Don’t cry for me, dear father of the weak,
I work to bring you peace, not eternal grief”
and this but a dream or out the psyche, mine,
stepping from the side of a dreamer’s eyes
and forcing me to face the problem of fate.

I once was a daughter young and spry as she;
could it be I said long ago or still have to say,
“Please lift your feet, dear father of the weak,
from the shards of broken hearts
for such a thing unknown now that I am grown
into my awareness of the meaningful” ~
and then I knew without a doubt
brain matter’s simply fat
burning to a crisp in a pan of fantasy.

There’s a thing, you see, called “the will to be free”
that goes awol from reality and plain old stupid me
but it can’t put matters right, can’t even light a fire
underneath a stubborn oaf of six foot something long
but I digress and wander lost in an atmospheric haze
called “living on the edge of my own sanity”
and if you know it well, WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!

And I'm glad you know it, Martie!  Just for the company of course.

::smiles::   Wonderful !

I've been called a "genius" before.  Go figure.
I've been called "insane" before.   It figures.
I have heard that there is a fine line between the two.
I do know I teetered.   I stumbled.  I fell.
Which side?    You decide?
I tried... Almost drove me crazy.

Thanks Uriah, Dixie, and Windwalker for the read.  Perhaps there are quite a few of us who teeter and flop but not so anyone could know of course.

Can I be a part of the club? Enjoyed the read, written so honest and freely.

Androgynous - Thanks for the read.  To be part of anything requires first a decision and then commitment but perhaps wait a while
until you've read the fine print because living on the edge of sanity doesn't promise a bed of roses.
