JACK, JOHNNY, JIM, JIMI, DAVE AND RAY

The dreadful hours
Draws to a close
Yet the night is around me
Clasping me like memories
Of past lovers
Dying in my vision

I pour me a glass
Just to tuck me in
A coward’s faithful sin
Not to poison, just to dim
So come Jack, Johnny and Jim
Night riders on a mission
With promises to keep
One to let me forget
One to help me sleep

As life is short
The night is long
So please don’t forsake me
Forgetfulness empty and strong

Yet as the dreadful hours closes
Like my window to the dark outside
Knight silence is tapping at my door
And there is no place I can hide
So come Jimi, Dave and Ray
And hush the black knight away
For at the frightful serenade's halt
The silent orchestra starts to play
With the maestro sir lonely
Conducting a mute melody

As the dreadful hours is but a lake
The silent night is an ocean I can’t take

One word: "Wow!" Very moving.

Androgynous, thanks for the magic carpet ride back to those nights, lest I forget.  I could never plot a true course in the fog! I always wound up where I didn't want to be!:-) Awesome Write! :-)
