WHY CAN’T I BE ALL THE SEASONS?

Why must I be one or the other?
Why can’t I be all?
Like spring is spring
And fall is fall
Tossed aside all the reasons
Why can’t I be all the seasons?

I’m not this and that
Though my hand fits a glove
And my head fits a hat
My feet won’t fit shackles

All the define me and analyze me
The educate me to fit your plan
Crunch the numbers
And tell me who I am

We create laws for nature
The sky above and ground below
We are born free and die free
Why regulate the in-between?

Tossed aside all the reasons
Why can’t I be all the seasons?

I agree, that we are all the seasons.  We go through different seasons of our lives all the time.  Sometimes we go through a dark, sad or long winter, and sometimes we experience a wonderful, beautiful, bright summer.  This was very pretty.  I think you made a couple of spelling errors when you wrote "the" instead of "they," but that is minor.  Your poem is beautiful.

Androgynous, I've think you will be giving us some exhilirating lessons in how to be just that, "of all seasons." :-)

I guess the choice really is ours whether to be all the seasons or not.  Go for it, Androgynous!  Welcome to the blue pages!

Now I'm smiling form cheek to cheek Thank you all!

And Sheri, I see what you mean, but it's meant to be that way, even though I see now that it can be hard to get, hmm.. Maybe I should change it, tell me what you think

This is how I meant it to be:

All the "define me" and "analyze me"
The "educate me" to fit your plan
Crunch the numbers
And tell me who I am

But maybe it's better like:

All they define me and analyze me
They educate me to fit their plan
Crunch the numbers
And tell me who I am

Androgynous, I surely know  how this feels...wonderfully expressed!

Some of the most beautiful parts of the world do not have four distinct seasons though remember that

HI and Welcome....

we can always be all seasons....we have within us....nicely said....

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely
without complete understanding
