A DIFFERENCE MADE
7 March 2006

When dark crawls small
around the throat,
and  soul-stones grind both grey
and shiver-slow,
and tears glass-freeze
before the words,
and flow seems ebb, forever more . . .

just one warm word
like a candle glow . . .

and sunrise sings
in sky-splashed flames,
and millstone lifts
and breath is free,
and sun-drenched tears dry
with soft-healing balm,
and words surge boundless, skywards, wide
and ebb reverts to blessèd flow.

Oh Diana. Those lines grabbed me.
What a marvelous work this one is.
From this beginning you soared!

Thank you passing shadows, I'm glad it inspired you.

Thank you Steven.  Yes, it is amazing how much power a kind word has, and equally how much a single unkind word does too.  And it is always a choice, one makes, and not always an easy one.  Also, tough love and/or the right thing to do, is not always understood by the recipient and even sometimes the giver.  And that is where communication comes in.  But before there can be communication, both/all parties have to be ready to really hear the other party/parties and understand where they are coming from.  How complex it is to get on with one's fellow man!  And how incredibly easy it is to get on with animals!  Sorry for all the long-winded philosophising.  No, I take that back.  I'm not sorry at all.  It is fun to air one's views and I was enjoying myself!

Thank you so much, Kate.  That's what I tried.  It's good to know I succeeded.

This lovely poem is like an up-lifting,  soothing, calming, balmy breeze.

YOUR words glow with candle light, Wise One. Owl

May you be treated as kindly as you treat others.

Love & Light and a super duper hug,

The guiding light
from one candle
on the other side
Of a vast universe
would still find its way
Through the dark
and into
the firth of lorn

How meaningful
Lest we remember
that each smile,
each embrace,
each flickering flame
Of hope
casts one shadow
to the next
of love
and warmth
that gets passed along
To each sparkle
in the eyes
of our hearts

Thank you
Dear poet
For lighting
Yet
one more
wick
of wisdom
and
sweet compassion

Thank you Richy.  You can't possibly know exactly how much of A Difference you have Made.  This is knee-wobblingly beautiful.  You are a very kind, very special person.
