I ducked her loop like a yearling,
as I busted through the door.
I won't never let that woman,
corner me no more.

She can chunk a bale up on the truck,
with either or both hands.
She lost her front teeth in a fight with Tiny,
the last fool to buck her plans.

They say she can't read nor write,
but she shore knows how to make her mark.
Just ask poor old Tiny,
he's still hiding in the dark.

She can eat a side of beef,
or the hind quarters of a pork.
She just gnaws it right off the bone,
she don't need a knife and fork.

Her daddy's down at the jail house,
where he feels safe and sound.
Her momma's out in the woods,
treeing squirrels like a bluetick hound.

Lord help me!
I can still hear her,
calling out my name.
She's got the moon and stars in her eyes,
and her heart is all aflame.

She's got my saddle on her back,
inviting me for a ride.
What made me want to cowboy up,
was it foolish pride?

It don't matter too much now,
cause my chicken has been fried.
She was just to good with a loop,
now she's my blushing bride. :-)

this humerous & enjoyable poem, reminded me of something I cannot repeat...but if anyone saw the movie "North Country" with Charlize Therman, which I'd highly recommend, there was a priceless scene, (one of many), in which someone left a present for her in her lunch box...and...her response to it, was hysterical...

enjoyed this
