we talk of mornings
milking dandelions of their scent
catching soft touches of sun
laughing at what has yet to come
barely getting to know who we are

Painfully we part
drift ourselves to work
gather our duties
folding them in place
rushing to see the days end

We never spoke of such a thing
but our hearts new truths
that mouths could not utter
and brains could not justify
stealing moments
whispers
hushes
secrets
to expose lies

Laying nightly
sharing the moon
we gasp at the thoughts
of anger
forgetting that the world outside
still needs us
lifting our brows in obnoxious greed
good thing the sheets are made of satin

perched, again I talk
you listen
on rocks beaten by waves
the sea speaks to us
giving us knowledge we couldn't possibly
understand
clouds dark, roll in
letting the light peak at our souls
with evening air tapping on my shoulder
restless
you walk
I follow
into the dark

made me think of how our innocence is stolen when as we get older and how people tend to forget the pleasures of life as they get older. (was i right??)

i like it

Grey you are a very close...Because this poem can be interpeted in so many ways I leave up to the reader to convey their own special meaning... However grey, you rae quite close to what I thought of when writing this.

TD, thank you for your beautiful comment. I love the way you saw this poem.

I enjoyed your poem.  In my relationship there are many times I feel what you are expressing:  "mouths could not utter and brains could not justify....
to expose lies."  My exact feelings at times!!! Thanx

this is an outstanding write that really hit home for me, but I prefer to keep the reason to myself right now

spoke to me of an innocence untouched by the outside world because the ones involved took the time to make it so.

Indeed, a very good read.
