Yet another day
cut off by distance &
natural barriers of great range
a convalescing addict
becomes the exhausted huff
of indecent shadow boxing
spiritually divorcing
that one single ticket
left lying on the road…

He takes a brutal look
at the certainty of letting go…
left face to face with
words of heartache & a wink
from the left eyes of blood
twisted elbows punch his folded wings
until they’re skewed,  ripped away
in his unbroken silence

Strutting like clocks
that tick & chime
coins of rejection with flabby hypocrisy
somewhere, in pink flames
of neon tail lights
he is compelled to
gum the rain &
total loss of offspring
stroking tangles
of the soot ruffled hair of reality

Does he only see the
dark brown shades of foul streets
dragging him inside a
waiting car of violence
his love for
black diagonal echoes
underneath his fingernails?

Can he feel the hesitation
between a middle place
of body wings & vulgarities
ratcheting sweet feel good magic
hovering like dead give aways?

does he know what is rough
what is smooth or better yet,
what words to call them
when the emptiness soothes?

Is he intimate with the barking squeak
in his every breath
when death tumbles
someone sitting beside him…?

Does he twist inwardly when hummingbirds
bring their fragrance?
listlessness, staggers large & clumsy
he traces wants, he knows nothing about
his mind is the sound of mocking hyenas
ripping away flesh underneath a full
moon, of bitter howls and screams

He is shocked & blinded by morning light
he doesn’t know earth soaked aloe
nor the taste of dreaming air shushing
his tattoos
streaming with dirty looks of battle
threats, fear and lack of emotional
connection…he is the animal contemplating
prey,  the animal of contempt & indifference
he is the ritual stare for domination
he strips, tortures and rapes
each and every drowning life
with bare hands of indifference
his religion
his blood thirsty images of God

He is death
eyeballing images
that he’s kidnapped
from a productive world
all it takes is one
minute for you to
unknowingly invite him in
he is a terrorist
with powerful impact
he is the foul breath
of disability
of confusion...
quite impersonal
yet
he returns a hungry gaze
of midnight hypocrisy
destroying credibility
employed by
a civil war within
where decades of terminal
malignancy thrives and lives
deep within

He is a legitimate cultural apparatus
A killing machine of Hamas

*******

Footnote:  I couldn’t help think about Moussaoui, and how we so botched up his days in court…so much so, that HE felt it necessary to confess, not only to hating Americans, but also wanting to Kill them and being involved with the 9/11 attacks.    I think he was afraid, he will not be put to death, therefore threatening, his belief and cause…

Complex phrases,
deep thoughts,
another pondering of circumstances
set upon a concrete foundation
of your convictions
and as always,
an intriguing use of your
rich vocabulary

Have a great day,
sweet lady

Great write Lee J.
He will never know those things we sometimes take for granted.
The freedom to be free.

I love how you always pack a punch...nice Lee...

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely
without complete understanding

Lee, Thank you for that footnote! You know I need that when reading you.The very words are all laid down in my dictionary, but somehow you manage to put them together in a totally different way from anyone else I have read. Your thoughts are right on. This man is the creature of his beliefs. You are a word master. best, martyjo

Strange
the human twists
of morality...

I cannot expound any better
on kudos than what you have
received above, LeeJ...

only to thank you for sharing,
in your own inimitable way.
