The field behind my house
is covered with morning frost,
sun just cracking darkness,
I can barely see across.
It's a blustery day, as Pooh would say,
wind blows through the moss,
but today will be a fine day,
I won't think about my loss.

Today is the day the Lord has made,
I will live it large and just be glad,
I will share a smile and walk a mile
with anyone who's feeling bad.
It's my goal to love this day,
my mission, if just a tad,
to bless someone with happiness
though I can't remove all sad.

Today is the day the Lord has made
with the frost and wind and all,
and I'm here to share, a soul to bear,
I've finally heard my call.

Dixie, you have grown from all the pains and adversities that you have experienced in life. You are becoming a fine spiritual teacher!

God bless you!

Oh my this is beautiful... and they say us Floridians don't know what frost is - you must be in the North part too!
Yes, this is going in my library for sure   It's a keeper!

Wiping the tears from my eyes, Dixie.  This brought back memories of my Father.  I do not think a day went by in my youth that my Dad didn't ask me if I knew what today was...and of course, he would remind me if I forgot..."Today is the day that the Lord made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."  I am eternally grateful for my father's subtle teaching.  Thank you for penning such a lovely poem, Dixie.   ....jo

Oh, passing shadows!  Even though this poem was a February one, you posted it now, so that must mean something.  It is so lovely to see you happier!

And I see you are a Winnie-the-Pooh fan like me!  (Well, on second thoughts, who isn't?)  I just had to say how much I loved the Pooh touch, though.

I love the chorus starting "This is the day the Lord has made".  When I used to teach French, I translated it into French and, amongst many other French songs, my pupils used to sing it.  That brings back many happy memories for me too.

I loved everybody's responses, but very especially iliana's.  What wonderful memories you must have iliana.

Oh, and I forgot to say that that picture is one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen, though, of course, it is difficult to remember everything I have ever seen in 60 years all at once!

Lovely sentiments expressed in this one, Dixie.  Yes, God gives us the day and what we do with it is up to us.  It's the kind of poem that one should stick up on the fridge as a before breakfast reminder.  Well done!

Linda, I have to give credit to Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen LOL Thank you for always leaving such wonderful replies to my poems!

misc, thank you for such a beautiful reply!

Nancy, it's quite an honor to have you keep this, though I hope you won't need it much

Caroline, yep...northern part of Florida in the panhandle!! Good to hear from you and thank you for leaving your thoughts!

Kate, thank you..what a compliment! That does my heart good to hear that!

Jo, what can I say? I'm just smiling so huge here at your comment.

Martyjo, thank you so much! It's not a side that can too often come out in words, but I'm glad when it does! Love you!

M, you are so encouraging! What would I do without you?

Sue, thank you!

Lee, I am glad to be back indeed! It's so nice to have such a welcome! I have missed you too.

Diana, thank you for such a lovely comment and for sharing your love of Pooh and your memories! I sure can't remember where I got that picture from but it was in one of the search engines I use to find graphics.

Helen, that is a great comment and very much appreciated! I think I may just print this out and hang it on the fridge...good idea!

Phil, thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement on these pages! That makes me smile
