On March 29 twin girls were born
But Mom had only eyes for the first
She hadn't even noticed that
a second fell out, dying of thirst

She said to me, 'Well, I am busy'
Don't want that black/white spotted thing
Every time it crawled near her
With horns she gave it a fling

I said 'Well darn, you stupid Mom'
How can you deny what is your own
But she walked away taking only the white
Leaving me the other till it has grown

They were little, even for twins
Wasn't sure I could pull it through
Not taller than a floor tile high
But she's alright and her sister too

Then yesterday morning, storm was hauling
I decided to take a ewe inside
Walking she was like a rolling boat
Belly round and legs real wide

That evening I noticed something was coming
Puffy and huffy, not eating at all
Sighing and groaning, she walked around
Standing and laying from wall to wall

At 4.00 am I saw a tiny tail hanging
And knew that action was required fast
Breech presentation this first one had choosen
Had to pull or it wouldn't last

Nice lamb, dark brown, and rather big
I knew a second one was coming too
Ten minutes later she pushed him out
And I said 'Very good girl' thank you

While both were drinking her warm milk
I saw contractions starting again
And I said 'Oh no, not another one please'
But it seemed my plead was too late and in vain

A beautiful brown spotted girl fell out
Screaming her head off from the start
All are healthy and accepted by Mom
How could I not close them into my heart

And when there are two nipples and three lambs,
it's getting a bit crowded at Moms bar
and you have to perform a little elbowing to get to the good stuff

As you know, this year I'll name them after my cousins and nieces.

Honey, which one is Jacqueline?  I've good reason to ask!  And I have to thank you for the time, that it took to perform this task, and for the presentation in rhyme...you keep me clapping, long and fast!

oh these are precious......

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely
without complete understanding

So very sweet they are Titia.
I wait every year to see and read of your spring lambs.
Wish I could hug them...and you too!

Two kittie faces [to the right of the body and in the middle] and on the left?  A lamb's face...

I love this!

Your writes and pictures are always precious
reminders of the beauty of Spring.  The triplets remind me of our three kids (goats!) who we bottle fed in a box in our house because the mother was unaccepting.  They grew very attached to us and we to them.  I love the pictures of your Cuties!
Cute poem!

Spring just wouldn't be the same with Titia's new flocks coming into the world. They are precious...so are you, dutchie

Uh, I hate to ask but is that a beer bottle in the first pic? I'm beginning to understand why your sheep always seem so happy!!!!

Titia!  This is wonderful and they are so sweet!  We had sheep on the farm when I grew up.  I'm kind of surprised she's taking all three of them; when we had twins, the mom would usually refuse one of them and we would have to bottle fed.  Congratulations on the triplets!  *hugs*...jo

Thank you all for the kind comments.

Kitty faces maybe that's why Mom rejected her

And YES Deer, it's a beer bottle, I was wondering who would spot that, not being surprised it's you . It's always happy hour when lambs are being born LOL I always use a beer bottle to feed them the first few weeks and after that it's just lemonade.

Iliana, it's not common either for this breed to have triplets. Most of the time they have just one, which is fine by me. Due to good nurturing food in cover time, they more and more get twins, but sometimes rejecting one.

Sunshine, the white one on top is Jacqueline, very adorable little thing.
