She'd tremble, when I'd look off in the distance.
She always hoped I'd take her by the hand.
There may be some letters with some misprints
Saying something about our future travelling plans.

There's a tear stained rocky wall that seperates me
from all of those who dare to draw too near.
I guess by now, she tells her friends she hates me.
I can almost feel the burning in my ears.

There were so many differences between us.
And the distances were far too great to cross.
In her wildest dreams I know she's seen us,
but I don't think she ever stopped to count the cost.

I'm grateful for these memories of affection;
But my hearts packed up and my minds already gone.
I'd rather leave her, weeping from rejection
than see her broken by the road I'm travelling on.

In the dark and lonely canyon, where my heart hides
I still hear the echo of every tear she cried.
Lord knows that she tried
to scale that wall so tall and wide
But she's still on the other side
of the Great Divide.

There will always be divisions...
it is
afterall
how life is formed.

Good write, Sir.

Such a sad poem, almost like a sad cowboy blues song.  It is true that sometimes the walls are just too high for the one person to climb to get to the other side.  Sometimes it is easier, although still hard, to move on, than to stick around and have more heartache on both sides.

Blessings,
Sheri Adams
