You live
in a self made prison
where yesterday
restrains your spirit behind the bars
of afterthought,

creating scars
that time won't heal...

still, you bleed
never realizing how much
you are needed;
here in the present
in this moment, right now

I wish that I could reach you
but I don't know how.

I give, and I give
trying to help you to see
past all of the yesterdays
so that you can break free

from this room
of solitude,
so dark and dreary
void of light

you are not confined
by the dark of night...

I cannot take these steps for you
but walk beside you, I will
into the golden hues
of tomorrow

and all that it holds...

Where lies the key
remains untold;
it is for you to find
in your own time,
and own way

where you can release yourself
from the self made prison
that binds you in yesterday.

I could fill a room with reasons why I could not give forgiveness
to the people who had selfishly left me a wounded soul,
I kept dragging round those memories, like a ball and chain behind me
wondering why my troubles followed me where ever I would go,
then one night, sick and tired of being sick and tired
I realized forgiveness was the only open road
I swear I heard those shackles snap
the moment that I took that path
I never have one time looked back
since that morning, I arose....{Travis T}

This is beautiful Donna, however remember to take yourself out in the light....you can't save everyone.

This is awesome Gentle Spirit, yesterday can surly be a prison. Praying your love helps him to find his freedom, believing that it can! :-)

Well stated; but sometimes the key can be, or seem, invisible to the one burdened with the past.

Enjoyed this very much.

Donna, you have a beautiful spirit, but Susan is right.  You can only save so many, and the closer we are to someone, the harder it is, most times, to communicate with them and to help them.  Like Steven, my prayers, too, that you can save him, and yes, believing (though with much caution) that you can, although knowing that you can't do it without his permission.
