I am but a seed,
this body but a shell.
Sown into a world,
for a while I must dwell.

Pushing forth year after year,
through sands of joy, of pain, of times.
Nourished with love and watered with tears,
from this seed my spirit climbs.

Hail and howling wind,
have both sought to uproot me.
Shadows have fell dark o'er my head,
a light I could not see.

Still I clung with all my might,
by one tiny root it seems.
The root of love,
that fills my head and heart with dreams.

When this seed has finally flourished,
when it's spirit fruit ripens and bows it's head.
May the love that has been it's source of life,
be it's final reward,
when at last
this earthly husk is shed.

How true this is for me.
Good writing.

Steven, I'm so glad the Spirit climbs, expands, outgrows this mortal seed.  We would be so much less without its beauty.  It so blesses us, The joy behind a smile or laughter, a hug, a success, gratitude, being able to share, and just simply love...all nothing with no spirit to record it.

The one thing we take with us!  Your spirit shines!

~ Karen

Thank You, Thank you very much, I love doing Elvis! :-) Saying that four letter word sometimes sends people running for cover don't it? Love I think is the most misconstrued word in the english language. Oh the images that flood my mind when it is said. To believe God is Love requires me to look at it from a different viewpoint. I have to believe it is broader, deeper, brighter, and stronger than I had once thought. So I find myself on a quest to understand or at least to learn what that four letter word really means. I thank many here for helping me to find that path. Now I will be looking to you to help me walk it. :-) Peace

The Good Book says, "And there remains, Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is Love."  Enjoyed the peace in your poem in the midst of storm.

wonderfully said and a reminder we are all seeds....

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely
without complete understanding
