Harvest Time

As a crimson sunset overshadows the bay
predicting tomorrow’s warm and calm day.
I had imagined forecasts of calamity and dismay

Yet I witnessed the young
reaching into heaven with their prayers,
and with a renewed breath of spirit they had sung.

“Harvest time,” they sing, and sing rejoicing.
Heartening, is my own spirit and I am joyful in hope.

Though nations announce their new laws
to pluck out the eyes and ears of our young.
These children will prophesy with due accuracy,
and in due time they will reveal human frailty and flaws…

In that hour:
the last will be first, the low made high,
and the lost given peace and grace…

But no mistaking, the day and hour for a crimson sunrise is near.
Listen to the young as they pour out their heart’s song.
“Harvest time, harvest time is here.”

Prophesy:To reveal by divine inspiration.

~*~

Not only do children say the darndest things...

they say it with unfailing faith in truth.

God speaks through our children...
and we are sorely misjudging what we hear
when we tell them to be quiet.

A wonderful harvest, JL.

Thank you for this beauty.

Surely when such events come to pass, we may be better souls for it.  Well written, Ken

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Thank you for the peace your poem paints.  May the world learn to understand the exquisite comfort of peace.
