Roux, where are you?

quote:
Poetry is truth in its Sunday clothes.
~*~
Joseph Roux, priest and writer
(1834-1886)

I have looked for you,
Joseph Roux,
you are quoted very well,
but a history I am searching,
I cannot seem
to find your tale.

It seems you lived to fifty-two.

Your quotes have stood
the test of time,
but a point I would
like to disagree,
yet cannot find
more to know ~
you seem somewhat
a mystery.

I want to know the man
who would dress his poetry
in some Sunday clothes,
some pretty and best,
for I read poets every day,
and it seems to me that
they might fail your test.

For the poets who would
skin the cat,
strip all bare,
lay emotion true
well, then, their poetry
would not do ~
yet, it’s their truth,
through and through.

Still, we read with some glee
beautifully dressed poetry
of those who would
envision your sight…

and then await those poets
who would unveil the night.

Like you, Dear Solar Orb, I like my poetry dressed ~ as well as naked!

Going save this for sure.  Guess mine isn't the best dressed poetry! Have to change its clothes before long to please an audience!

I'd have to disagree with him, too....but then, again, I don't know anything about him either....and you know poets....they speak their truths....but as we grow, our truths often grow right along with us.   ....jo

Well sissie...you sent me on a search and I found lots of quotes, but no biography.  There must be something somewhere.  Thanks for stimulating my curiosity.

I haven't yet found anything new on this poet myself, Martie...which makes him all the more intriguing.  If anyone can answer the question as to this priest who had a lot to be remembered for, I would sure like to hear from them.

Thank you ALL for reading!
