Visiting Earth on a Guest Pass

A bird is just
an angel in a shawl;
some walk when
flying will not do.

Now her mate calls,
he calls all through
the long dark days.

Where do the birds go
when they fall?

I don't know where they go,
I assume somewhere beautifully serene...

This is a truly, most enjoyable piece
for me to read tonight...

Just what I needed.

Thank you,
Josette

Ed...I know the heart that wrote this.  It is so sad to listen to a bird calling when you understand the reasons.  She may just be sitting somewhere safe on some eggs.  I hope so!  Thank you for this.

I agree, it is so sad to listen to a bird calling when you understand the reason. I really like this poem!

Ed, this is such a beautiful poem, with a hint
of sadness. It shows what a compassionate heart you have.

I hope the little birds that fall are okay.
Hugs,
Ethel

I know where they go.  God could not have created such wonderful creatures without making them happy in Heaven when they fall.  I know my horse is in Heaven too.  He had/has more soul and more goodness and kindness and love than any human I know and he had/has an absolute lack of anything bad.

Warm reassurances

Even knowing I have nothing in common with angels, I was drawn in by the lovely image your title gives.
And as I read, I realized my mistake... for I know falling... and I certainly know lonely... and cries that bring no answer.
This poignant write touches deeply... it's superb!
