The Silver Maid

Silver rings

upon each hand,

a missing wedding band

Upon her head,

silver strands

In a long gown,

once white,

now silver drab,

adorned with

woven silver lace …

She looked above

to silver sky,

with silver tears

upon her face, uttered

a beseeching cry,

“Why”? she asked,

“Why”! No one heard

No one answered her

… And when she died,

all that remained

of the Silver Maid

was silver rain,

falling …

from a silver sky

in a sad, haunting

silver lullaby.

Very good.

Creates a legend . . .
and a ghost story
