In Indiana
the earth spoke..." You like these golden fields that s-t-r-e-a-t-c-h
this tree lined two lane thin?"
(I Could hardly believe my ears!)
                   "Well listen to me then,"

the earth continued...

"You are mine, yet on your own
                     all you know... already known.
The beauty that you think you find
is only trash time left behind.
This harvest spread before your eyes...
                     just the springtime's latest lies.
Humor me , you mound of clay
what see you now, on this fine day?"
I see the leaves come falling down,
volumes spoken,  without sound.
A combine fleet on  sea of grain;
let springtime lie to me again.
This trash that time has left behind...
a feast for weary eyes like mine.
Yes I am yours...and aren't you lucky!
But, you'll find me down in Kentucky.

Where the earth doesn't speak so damn loudly...
