The Worlds Worst Poem

05 July 1999

My friend Sue
I don’t know what to do
I’ve lost my shoe
my socks have gone missing too

Look under the bed, she said
The place lost things hide
When we toss them aside

Mum I’ve lost my soul
and this sock has got a hole
Can I have an ice cream
I promise not to scream

When will this end
to darn and mend
The worlds worst poem
now lets just show ‘em

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things,
which is the head, even Christ:”
Ephesians 4: 15 KJV

Every poem has a story and this one has one of those - As to my friend Sue, and how the "Worlds Worst Poem" was named.

When the friendship may not have stood the point of time - but the 'poetry' has.

lol  A very cute poem.  Maybe the world's worst, but it may not be either.  You never know what is out there that we have no access to.  I really liked this because it made me not only smile, but laugh.  Way to go.

We are always our own worst critics.
Someone saw themselves in this...and
this makes it "their" poem.

A long time ago...and on this site, I was
told to "not down" myself.

Neither should you.  You will never know
what you give to others, until that other
raises you up for others to see.

The poem was started as two separate stanza in a hand written letter. More as a joke perhaps.

Only when Susan (Sue) visited, there was a comment made about those words. In a reference made to saying it was 'the world's worse poem'

While the rule of thumb here, was that I took the original two stanza and added to those words in completing my poetic thoughts on the subject.

In simple terms the title is as much the facts behind this tale of a past friendship, - that produced the above works and a few hundred more in the process.

To have composed around 5000 pages of my own form of poetry since that day in July 1999
