Luring me with a promise of salvation
The night beckons me into it's embrace
I walk away from my sanctuary
into the darkness, leaving no trace

Never looking back over my shoulder
Disappearing, like I’d never been
tears dried on my swollen cheeks
looking forward to my life of sin

I know just where this path will lead
and I have no fear as I walk that way
It pains me not to make this decision
and I will never rue this day

I’ve taken my life into my own hands
no one else will decide my fate
walking away from the pain of you
I pray that it’s not too late

As dawn slowly lifts her morning veil
to reveal the light of a brand new day
I hide my smile of pleasure at
having found the courage to run away

A wonderful repost, PdV.  A good way
to introduce our new poets to some
favorites.

Well done.
