The night walks softly across the moor
where hallowed grounds grasp the soils.

A place where champions were born and
bled of the forces of battle.  Where arrows
slew and voices cried as dawn struggled
to swallow the black gruel of darkness.

Step softly,   touch the grasses where
bloods have flowed and mingled with
the fading light of a deserted moon,
swallowing stars as it’s path crossed
the skies.

Sadly, the weathered bones dance to
a hollow tune, bringing the birth of
the drummer’s roll to lifeless ears
as water’s crash and roll across the
cool briny sands and wash back
into the shimmering sea once more.

I could feel every single word in this poem, and I loved it.
Well written.

I see distant shores
great rocky walls,
and thunderous ruin...

and man, attempting to get
from one night
to another...

however he may.

Excellent work, Magnus.  But that is what I've come to expect.

Oh, yes.

You also got a heavy sigh.

Sheer mystical magic!  I love the night too.  I'm still floating on the words of your poem.

The imagery in this poem left me holding my breath, as if not to give rise to ghostly voices and whispers!  Step softly, indeed.  The entire poem is hauntingly dark and I love the phrase, "a deserted moon,
swallowing stars".  Beautifully penned.

"The night walks softly across the moor"

I love this line. A lot of feeling here Barry. I enjoyed it.
