You hear them first.
A far-off unfamiliar clamour,
Which grows and grows
Until they are above you.
Great straggling arrows,
The skeins fill the pale
Autumn sky,
Calling to each other
As they compass south;
Following an ancient ley line,
Felt, rather than remembered.
And when I think of you,
My love, my soul flies too,
up to the old, unknowing road
That will lead it home.

Thanks Lee. I'm afraid a lot of my stuff teeters on the brink of manic depression.I'm a sad guy. But when I was happy (you know, that state you're in before you start noticing women), I never wrote a thing. So I guess I owe them that. Michael.

No owl, they are real. Canada geese I think. Twice a year they pass over my house, in autumn going south, and again, in spring, north. There are so many it takes nearly 40 minutes for them to pass. Always leaves me speechless. Michael.
