Playing In The Sand Castles

You stood there, in pink lapels
Describing texture and angle to footings
The first to trace a line beneath the door
Knowing I would read your thoughts
Punctuate your cliché, and pour the mortar
Quietly your mind raced the speed of sound
Completing a first story, and starting a second
You thought I was not aware
Out of sight, fastidious hands took shovel
I followed the blueprint, carved an arch in the hall
Dug moat through saturation of will
Holding to the sides built deep and smooth
You hid, beneath the stealth of sunlit murmur
Tag was not an option, and I turned back to smooth
Moving my hands slowly down each eternal curve
Hope touched longingly at the back of your neck
Giving shiver to the excitement of my visions
You wrote me notes in the sand
Knowing I would read each line over and over
Thinking as I fashioned more closely to your words
As I grew tired, lonely and losing hope to sunset
I felt your breath through my hair, warm winds of comfort
I closed my eyes, pictured the touch of your hands
Moved my hips in time with yours, step to step
Drawing my every breath in your voice
The tower was finished just today…perfect pitch and tone
The moat filled with feeling and soothing sounds
You stepped out from behind the walls
To admire with me, and toast to water rites
