Rare When Eyes Are Opened

Existence has a theme,
a flow for which we wait;
the twisted web of fate;
it's the sin that we dream.
Life wasn't meant to be...
joy none can guarantee,
on our lips these words we say...
"There's naught but disarray."

Chorus:

Rare when eyes are opened.
Petty these things we hope.
This path is but a dead end.
Did need and wants elope?
I claim there is no tenet,
for yearning's an illness,
how I wish I could forget,
the, "lusts," time would suppress.

When confidence plagues thee,
falseness is your rest,
love's a lie...just debris,
and hope you will detest,
whilst I was chasing dreams,
a villain stole my life,
seems naught is as it seems,
and none might be a wife.

Chorus:

Rare when eyes are opened.
Petty these things we hope.
This path is but a dead end.
Did need and wants elope?
I claim there is no tenet,
for yearning's an illness,
how I wish I could forget,
the, "lusts," time would suppress.

If I were a vile chap,
you’d see the fair in me,
aye you would know this crap,
for the pain that I’d be,
however I’m a kind man,
and sameness is naught but drab.
There is no master plan,
I’m back where I began.

Being is a closed book;
hope leaves all in time,
all’s an imperfect crime,
death by hook or crook.
Hunches will let you down,
love’s a torn bridal gown,
seems I’m wearing Nero’s crown,
ardor’s become a scab.

Chorus:

Rare when eyes are opened.
Petty these things we hope.
This path is but a dead end.
Did need and wants elope?
I claim there is no tenet,
for yearning's an illness,
how I wish I could forget,
the, "lusts," time would suppress.

Chorus:

Rare when eyes are opened.
Petty these things we hope.
This path is but a dead end.
Did need and wants elope?
I claim there is no tenet,
for yearning's an illness,
how I wish I could forget,
the, "lusts," time would suppress.

To read your words is a pleasure, but to be able to hear them would be positively divine!

Hope you stay awhile this time!

Beautifully put.
