"Don't despair!" Said I in desperation,
with painted smile of feigned exhilaration.
"Forge ahead! It's just around the bend,
victory will rise with the sun!"

Oh the battle cries we cherish,...
if only I believed but one.

Are we fighting shadows for the light,
beneath a setting sun?
When we're taxed to take a step,
the world demands we run.

As we grow weaker still,
our foe he gains in strength.
With every step we take,
the course it gains in length.

Is this life a joke oh Lord?
Is our agony your pleasure?
Are fleeting moments of peace of mind,
the temptation or the treasure?

Is man like the butterfly,
this body a cocoon?
Is death blessed release,
or is it our doom?

Steven, what an eloquent, impassioned plea for answers to your questions!

As the saying goes, "God only knows!"

A fine write!

Liberation is sought...due to thoughts of bondage.   Due to thoughts of seperation...Unity is sought. It is only due to thoughts of "lacking"...that seeking takes place at all.  The prodigal wonders and wanders.  Until there is a renewing of the mind.  Great write!

The short answer is, yes.

Can't remember where I read it, but I recall an article in which the writer asserted that the human body is designed, more than anything else, like a larva. We don't have the ability to split out of this skin and be that next form, but we're basically larvae that could become something else, if that one missing stage were to happen somehow.....just think of the possibilities!

Thank You all for your kind replys. It's a question that I struggled with for many years. Finding an answer was not easy for me but the answer brought a peace that passes understanding. :-)

That you never quit looking
for the answer you sought,
speaks highly of your character.
