Why does sleep evade me, wearing me down,
What can calm my thoughts and being,
When will I not struggle with the piercing light
How will I be ever be able to leave the shadow.

Is there something I should be seeing
That will draw my soul from the night
Maybe a beacon shining I might follow
Or a bell's crisp clear calling sound.

At times I feel I can't continue to fight
My spirit has faded and become shallow
In the vice of life I have been finely ground,
My hope imprisoned never freeing.

Darkness holds me to the marrow
And to the lightlessness I am bound
So tight that there's no fleeing
My only prospect is the twilight.

smiling here--y'know what you need, doncha?

Y'gotta get you one of these little old ladies with indomitable spirit.

They tend to shame a person into living life.

Thank you, Serenity,
Always a pleasure to see you commenting beneath my humble words
As for the little old lady shaming me
I am without shame
And shamelessly I go into the darkness
Carrying with me my feeling of gloom
Extinguishing flames of hope to lightless
Just by entering into a hope filled room,
Am I then to blame?
Perhaps
Perhaps not,
Gloom and sorrow might just be my drug addiction
Not a needle but a dark emotion
Drank cup by dragon cup.

Thank you, Skyshine
Pleased you found them worthy of comment

Very nice Gloom. The first stanza really gets me, I like. Good work. Cheers    - Ed
