When did life with you become
this sad country song?
Always crying about how something else
has gone wrong,
so we wind on down
another trail,
just merely a number
in the count of love      de-railed;

and, Yeah, I sat last night
at the bar,          crying the blues.....
another game?

Did we win, or lose?

But, I, ever the lady,
left her to remain clueless
because for me to hurt her
that way, would just be senseless.

I can't blame her
for what she probably doesn't know...

let me hear Patsy sing it
one more time before I go....

'Crazy'

(footnote: I'm particularly partial to the song Crazy,
by the never forgotten, Miss Patsy Cline....)

give me your heart,
make it real,or else forget about it.

"Crazy ... for thinkin' that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for tryin', and crazy for cryin'
And I'm crazy for lovin' you"

Did you know it was written by Willie Nelson? *S* And yet... it's always Patsy's voice I hear in my mind... she made it hers. *S*

so we wind on down
another trail,
just merely a number
in the count of love      de-railed;

I love the melancholy acceptance you write... excellent work! *S*

I love this winter-heart, de-railroad song - and of course, the strength and gentleness of your inimitable spirit, Gentle Spirit.

I can hear Patsy as I read this.
seems such craziness runs rampant, especially among women who FEEL life deeply.
And Willie is a never more than a heartbeat away from understanding the passionate heart.

Terrific line, terrific poem Gentle Spirit. I love "Crazy" by Willie or Patsy. Love the way you pulled it into your poem.
