One Day (All Good Things)

One day, I'll swing all good things
back my way
come around, sweet girl,
to my way of thinking
you see I've been sinking here
on the wrong side of town

Goin' down,
like a stray red sunray
I'll be around,
trying to swing it all back my way
and all good things
of thee I sing...

Someday, I'll bring all good things
with me some way
look here, pretty one
at my bright light smile
'cause it's been awhile since
my eyes have seen through tears

And I've found a cold reality in my fantasy
that only girls can fumble towards ecstasy
while boys just fumble,
a lazy tumble towards oblivion
amazing the inner world we live in

Feelings abound, lost and/or found inside
in a typical male's heart, there's no room to hide
'cause boys stockpile love,
a steel vault to spirit it all away
just to save it all for a rainy day
and I fear that day is here
so now you can see why I'm gonna swing all good things
back my way

One day, you'll bring all good things
on your way
you'll see, my dear
that I need it all and now
you'll see I've been down so long
wasting my time, you'd surely agree

That I was
goin' down, down
like leaves falling from trees
all across town
trying to sing it sweetly to appease
the angels of all good things
and what love may bring...

Believe I've found a good fortune in my poverty
'cause maybe this girl can make way for prosperity
raiding the vaults inside me,
letting all my fragile love into the sun
just to save me from coming undone
all feelings butterfly into her eyes
so now I can see why I've wrecked myself to swing all good things
back my way
safe in knowing that my emotion success depended on her loving,
I think I'm gonna marry her one day...
