I thought I'd steal a moment
from the busy day.
I knew no one would miss it
and I'd hide it away.

I waited till the evening
just as the sun went down,
I looked and listened carefully
no one was close around.

The moment fast approaching,
racing for the morn,
"I think, what's more important"
than a moment being born?

Now, my hand is open.
Now, it's in my grasp;
Now, my trembling fingers close,
but, now's now in the past!

Although quite disappointed
that the moment slipped away,
I'll remain forever grateful
for, you've read it here today!!!

It's hard to "steal" something
that was never ours, but enjoyably
enough, you did manage to let us
see your moment through your eyes,
and it was beautiful.

"It's hard to "steal" something
that was never ours"...but....Sunshine...isn't that all that can be stolen???

after all, it's impossible to steal something that is is ours already...or is it???

Now, I'm confused!

I'm not really  theif, philosopher, or writer.

Although, for a very short time,  I once worked for a small town newspaper!

Thanks,

And,

Hugs,
Kathy
But, I suppose , it might be done.

Good point Sunshine

That old busy day can and will devour every moment. It's the ones we take back or steal that memories are made of. Steal somemore Kathy I won't tell! Enjoyed! :-)

When we seek to find a moment for reflection, it often proves pretty elusive, and then, indeed, it flits away.
I enjoyed your view of that moment.

You might enjoy Longfellow's "The Day is Done", one of his more brief poems, but he also searched for that moment of repose.
Btw, his birthday just passed, Feb. 27, 1807.

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light
