sipping water from a lost Spode cup
she was a negative
an absence
a hole driven in on itself

folding silver squares
chasing dragons
she lay in places
even sirens would not attend her

red haired women dreamed her
dancing in diamond dust
hand on a cutting hip
dying again and again

and finally dying again

My...this is so saddly beautiful...

"she lay in places
even sirens would not attend her

red haired women dreamed her
dancing in diamond dust
hand on a cutting hip
dying again and again"

I've been there...tried to forget...yet...

Thanks for reminding me,

I needed it.
Hugs,
Kathy

Exquisite poem, as usual (do you ever write anything that isn't a masterpiece?).  I am not even going to try to guess who it is because I am hopeless at this - I don't think I have got any right of all the poets who responded to this challenge, although I see it afterwards when all is revealed.

That's a fantastically visual write.
My only regret is that there wasn't more of it!

Thanks for the read and the reply Kathy.
Hugs to you.

Diana, I appreciate your wonderful words. I am afraid no one
will guess who the masquerade is...

Thanks,  desert-spike. Thank you Steven.

Lady

It's so well done, but I don't know who...perhaps it's time for you to tell us?

Thank you Martie. I think you are right.

It tried so hard to write itself like Dark Stranger but in the end it is only a shadow of a shadow.

Going back to read again, I do see the DS in your imagery.  I think he will be pleased.  You best send him the link!

I may not know whose style you are emulating, but I DO know that whomever I might suggest, would be complimented by such a fine piece of writing in their honour!

Unmasking ... what a word for this masquerade!  I loved this.  The poem is better than a shadow of a shadow and it is a great read.  Everything is there.  You did a fantastic imitation of Daark's style.     I'm sure he enjoyed this terrific poem.
