they said it wouldn't matter
tapping on the inside of a can
with a head full of tears
begging for dimes
possibly dollars
with a harmonica in his hand
sweet notes
salty blues
not knowing if it was going to rain
sitting steady on the stoop
hat turned up holding dreams
watching feet take off to busy schedules
and all he's got to do
is stay right where he is
