"We must leave England !"
The men proclaimed.
It will be difficult, but we shall not fail !
We'll build a new land, free from tyranny !
To the New World we must sail !
So, they journeyed to the New World...
They laid their plans and schemes...
They fought to gain their freedom.
They fought to build their dreams.
They named the land... "NEW" England;
Not for lack of a better name;
But because the old and new world
turned out very much the same.

They screamed...
"We must move Westward !"
Seek opportunity and more land !
There is need of elbow room and freedom !
In the West we'll make our stand !
So, they ventured west and stood the test...
Conquering savage and taming beast...
'Til their task was at last completed...
and the West resembled East.

"To the mountains !"
They announced to the satisfied fools.
"The high country is where freedom lies !"
So, they climbed to the top and stood on the peaks,
and built their dreams in the skies.
Below, was too much hurrah and commotion.
No solitude in the flats could be found.
Although they stood risk of plummit...
They tackled the summit...
'Til at last...
They built a town.

"Into space !"
Is the cry of today.
Their attention is drawn to the stars.
Peace of mind could possibly lay
on Jupiter, Neptune or Mars.
Man is a beast of short memory.
He continuously relives his past.
Every new world he sets out to build...
Ends up as fouled up as the last.
There is no solitude left to be found.
Nowhere for a man to be free.
Man likes to...Show   And have others to....See
Oh what a huge ego has he.

I am reminded of a scripture...
'Though perhaps it will strengthen your hate...
I'll take that chance and have you to glance
at Isaiah, chapter five and verse eight.

"Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth !"

My ex and I were talking about this just yesterday. For over twenty-five years, he has lived on this lovely dirt road with only pine trees for neighbors... until last year, when the land at the end of the road was sold, subdivided, then re-sold at enormous profit. There are now several houses there, and lots of traffic on the road. He had to fence the yard so the dogs are safe from the cars. There are no longer deer in the backyard, and there is always garbage in the road. It is too sad. People refuse to learn that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Greed rules the world and shall be its downfall.

As always, I enjoy your writing immensely.
